What can you use bark for? There are several types of bark suitable for using in the garden.

It's used on children's play areas where its impact rating provides impact absorption and Rolawn's play grade bark is tested to British Safety standard BSEN1177:1998

Each bag of play bark contains 1000 Litres of bark which is enough to cover 3.3m² at a depth of 300mm.

For garden borders an application of bark after weeding can supress weeds and prevent germination of weed seeds.
It also helps retain water in the soil which is useful in hot, dry summers. Bark also helps prevent erosion by covering the soil. The organic matter of the bark is also slowly incorporated into the soil as it breaks down.
Bark can also act as an insulating layer in winter helping protect plant roots from bad weather.
